The working group realized they had identified a critical need within the School of Engineering, and decided to expand beyond CEE. The Stanford University Voluntary Student Organization (VSO) Engineering Students for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ES4DEI) was founded soon after. Founding leadership included Cindy Wend, Alison Fritz, and Tess Hegarty. ES4DEI has expanded to support DEI through two approaches: external community outreach and university community development.
